Zachry acquires Clean Harbors’ Catalyst Services business

| By Mary Bailey

Zachry Group (San Antonio, Tex.; www.zachrygroup.com) has acquired Catalyst Services from Clean Harbors, the leading provider of environmental, energy and industrial services throughout North America.

Catalyst Services is an international industry leader in catalyst change-out services, with a particular expertise in the refining and petrochemicals sector. These services represent a highly specialized aspect of the turnaround, repair and maintenance requirements of industrial facilities. Catalyst Services has 500 employees and operates in the U.S., Canada and Trinidad.

Catalyst Services will be rebranded as JVIC Catalyst Services and will operate alongside JVIC’s current catalyst operations within the recently created Services Division of Zachry Group.

“This acquisition represents an important step in our strategy of providing the most comprehensive slate of services across the entire life cycle of industrial, refining and petrochemical facilities,” said John Zachry, CEO of Zachry Group. “Catalyst Services is a highly regarded company with a strong safety record and capabilities that are complementary to our existing expertise in industrial maintenance and turnaround work. We are excited to be able to offer our customers an expanded range of services and geographic coverage, and to enhance the career opportunities available to our new employees, as well as our existing employees.”

“Once we determined that Catalyst Services was no longer a core part of our portfolio, it was important for us to identify an owner who was a good strategic fit for the business,” said Eric W. Gerstenberg, Clean Harbors’ Chief Operating Officer. “We are confident that our catalyst customers will be well-served by Zachry Group, and that the employees of that business will benefit from being part of its organization going forward. We will continue to work closely with Zachry to make certain that the transition for both customers and employees is a smooth one.”
