Wood plc (Aberdeen, Scotland) will support Australian ASX-listed medical device company, PolyNovo Limited (PolyNovo), to significantly increase production capacity of its wound treatment medical devices.
Under the detailed design contract, Wood will deliver a new cleanroom facility to produce BTM, SynPath and MTX medical devices which accelerate healing of chronic burn and trauma-induced wounds.
Once completed, expected to be some time in 2025, the facility’s increased production capacity will help meet growing local and global demand by clinicians for PolyNovo’s devices to treat soft tissue defects. This contract follows Wood’s successful delivery of early works design services to upgrade infrastructure to prepare the site for the new facility.
Jim Goff, Senior Vice President of Life Sciences at Wood said: “PolyNovo’s medical devices are a true testament to how life sciences technology can transform lives. We’re proud to be selected by PolyNovo based on our specialty cleanroom and life sciences facility design expertise. Our track record of strong, predictable delivery will ensure the safe, successful completion of this contract at pace, on time and with innovation front of mind.”
Tom Sullivan, PolyNovo Program Manager commented: “PolyNovo engaged Wood from an early stage in the process. Together, we’ve been on the journey through concept and feasibility, detailed design and construction phase. Wood’s team have been exemplary to work with. They are considered, thoughtful and provide a high level of expertise across all relevant disciplines.”
