Making sure the correct amount of material is fed to a batch reactor, bag or storage bin is important to everyone in the chemical process industries (CPI). Because the CPI cover such a broad spectrum, manufacturers are faced with a variety of factors to consider when designing weighing and feeding equipment — from increasing throughputs with more compact designs, through reducing dust and product loss with increased accuracy and control, to hygienic design and ease of cleaning. What follows is a brief look at some recently-launched products that meet these demands.
When space is sparse
For applications with limited headroom, the new HC Series Semi-Dense Phase Conveyor (photo) from Cyclonaire Corp. (York, Neb.) can be fitted for side loading, which reduces both the overall height and that of the vacuum loading portion of the equipment. The side inlets can be located low in the transfer vessel, for fine, aerable materials. The HC Series is a new range of high-capacity pneumatic conveyors for single or multiple ingredients designed to handle materials that are abrasive and fluidizable. Standard units have conveying capacities of up to 80 tons/h, depending on the material and model. The HC Series use only positive…
