Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group (WMFTG; Cornwall, U.K.; www.wmftg.com) has acquired the business and assets of Flow Smart Inc. through its parent company Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc, for £5.7 million.
Flow Smart, based in Seaford, Delaware, specializes in the design and manufacture of high purity sanitary gaskets, silicone transfer tubing and reinforced silicone hoses for the bioprocessing and pharmaceutical industries. The business will be integrated into the WMFTG., and Lou Bongiorno, founder and President of Flow Smart, will transfer along with existing staff to a new company, Watson-Marlow Flow Smart, Inc., and continue in his role as President.
Flow Smart’s product range utilizes market-leading technology to improve sterility within the biotechnology production process, thereby reducing validation risk in demanding contamination-free applications; resulting in improved process sterility confidence for our customers. Flow Smart provides an extensive range of fabric, braided and wire reinforced platinum silicone hoses and high performance sanitary gasket products. Flow Smart has developed an extensive range of high purity gasket compounds with superior performance ranging from EPDM, Viton, Platinum Silicone, PTFE and Poly4D.
