A.W. Chesterton acquires Ceramic Polymer GmbH

| By Mary Bailey

A.W. Chesterton Co. (Woburn, Mass.; www.chesterton.com) announced the acquisition of Ceramic Polymer GmbH (Roedinghausen, Germany).  The company manufactures industrial coatings that are specialized in protecting metal and concrete materials in large industrial structures, such as storage tanks, offshore and onshore structures, pipelines, and biogas facilities.

The purchase of Ceramic Polymer GmbH further increases Chesterton’s global production ability for their protective coatings line marketed under the brand ARC, as well as their line of specialty lubricants and MRO maintenance products. “The combination of Ceramic Polymer with our ARC Coatings will provide our clients regionally produced and inventoried products with shorter lead times for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and an expanded product offering for North and South America,” said Brian O’Donnell, CEO of A. W. Chesterton.

The company will use Ceramic Polymer’s existing manufacturing capability to expand the offering of ARC Coatings in the E.U. market. Additionally, they will eventually leverage Ceramic Polymer’s warehouse facilities to serve to its E.U. customers with both ARC and IL MRO (industrial lubricant and maintenance) products. “The integration of both companies will take place over the next six to nine months. Our clients will continue to receive the same high quality coatings, which they have come to expect” stated Eric Aulicino, the Global Vice President and Managing Director of Protective Coatings, Lubricant and Maintenance Specialty Products at Chesterton.

Ceramic Polymer GmbH, which will continue to operate under that name, is now a fully owned subsidiary of Chesterton International B.V.
