UOP LLC (Des Plaines, Ill.; www.uop.com) announced a collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM; Dhahran; www.kfupm.edu.sa) that will focus on the development of catalytic processes for petrochemicals production.
The two entities have signed a five-year agreement that allows university research groups to collaborate with UOP scientists on catalyst development and process development for the production of aromatics. Aromatic compounds are crucial raw materials for petrochemicals such as plastics and detergents.
