Macrowave is a new drying system that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to uniformly heat cake material and rapidly remove water without overheating. The system operates at a frequency of 40.68 MHz and features volumetric heating that provides instantaneous and uniform heating throughout the filter cake. Eliminating the long dwell time required by conventional surface-heating methods, the Macrowave RF Drying Systems are suitable for tumble-, tray-, spin-flash- and belt/tunnel dryers. The company says these dryers can reduce labor and energy costs by up to 60%. Batch and conveyor-based systems are available. — Radio Frequency Co., Inc., Millis, Mass.
