This modular piping system is approved for handling foodstuffs

| By Chemical Engineering

The new Food Grade range of pipework systems is said to be the first product range on the market that meets the stringent requirements of the European standard EC 1935/2004, as well as the U.S. Food and Drug Admin. (FDA) food regulations. Food Grade is a modular, stainless-steel pipework system with more than 3,000 components, over 1,000 of which were replaced or redesigned to meet these standards. The adhesive-free, vulcanized U-shaped seals not only ensure food-grade conformity to the standards, but also have improved temperature and tear resistance over conventional adhesive-bonded U-shaped seals, says the company. All components that come in contact with food are made with stainless steel that meets the quality standard V23A/1.4301. — Fr. Jacob Söhne GmbH & Co. KG, Porta Westfalica, Germany
