Amended Silicates is the name of powder designed for removing mercury from the fluegas of coal-fired power plants. The reagent, which is fully compatible with most sorbent-injection systems, provides the benefit of protecting flyash for use in concrete products. In sustained, full-scale testing at a power plant, Amended Silicates met the mercury removal rates required by the U.S. EPA’s MACT standards, the company says. The product is the first commercially available non-carbon mercury-control product that is compatible with the use of flyash in concrete. — Novinda Corp., Denver, Colo.
