This handheld monitor of particulate matter has a high selectivity range

| By Chemical Engineering

The Microdust Pro airborne particulate matter monitor is a portable, hand-held instrument that assesses concentrations of suspended matter in a sensitivity range of 1 µg/m3 to 2,500 mg/m3. The wide range makes it one of the most versatile monitors on the market, the company says, adding that it is the first instrument capable of graphically presenting variations in dust concentration on a realtime scrolling graph on its LCD screen. This eliminates the need to analyze results on a PC. The Microdust Pro is suitable for industrial hygiene, indoor air quality and workplace exposure investigations. Using near-forward light scattering technology, the instrument can monitor airborne particles like dust, soot, mold spores, smoke and liquid droplets. The Microdust Pro has an internal data logger capable of storing up to 15,700 data points over 32 separate scans. — Casella USA, Amherst, N.H.
