This grinding equipment has a smaller footprint

| By Scott Jenkins

With a direct-drive system that reduces this unit’s footprint by about half of that required by belt-driven machines, the model CIM-18-SS centrifugal impact mill provides coarse to fine grinding of friable materials into controlled particle sizes. It has the ability to grind materials to 400-mesh sizes, and can also be used for de-agglomerating and conditioning of dry solids. High-speed rotation of the inner disc generates centrifugal force that accelerates bulk material entering the central inlet of the stationary disc. As material travels from the center to the periphery of the discs at high speed, it passes through five intermeshing rows of rotating and stationary pins. Particle size distribution is controlled with the rotor speed. — Munson Machinery Co., Utica, N.Y.
