This Filter-Cake Shredder Works at Low Energy and Noise Levels

| By Chemical Engineering

Solid-particle filter cakes are often subjected to high pressure by a hydraulic press when deposited on a filter medium, resulting in a residual moisture level of 15 – 50%. The filter cake must consequently be prepared for further processing, generally by shredding. Designed expressly for this purpose, the Cone Nibbler GCN 150 (photo) offers variable process rates between 0 and 1,000 kg/h, filtrate particle-size reductions below 200 µm and de-agglomeration to beneath 50 µm — all at low energy and with low noise levels. Widely applicable, the device is compatible with a broad range of infeed sizes and can handle soft and heat-sensitive material. It is suitable for either wet or dry granulation, as well as control grinding, dispersion, reclamation and other special applications. The firm offers it and other shredders on loan for testing. — Gericke AG, Regensdorf, Switzerland.
