This CO2 compressor is the biggest ever

| By Chemical Engineering

Launched in May, the new semi-hermetic, six-cylinder GEA Block piston compressor HG46 CO2 T has a displacement of 21.8 to 30.3 m3/h. It is said to be the biggest semi-hermetic compressor for transcritical CO2 applications with operating pressures of up to 130 bars available on the market. At normal cooling (gas cooler outlet conditions 35°C, evaporation temperature –10°C, superheat 10 K), it has a coefficient of performance of more than 1.85. The compressor is based on established models, and is used in industrial heat pumps as well as conventional refrigeration applications. — GEA Refrigeration Technologies GmbH, Bochum, Germany
