This analyzer measures moisture in most bulk materials

| By Chemical Engineering

The MR (magnetic resonance) Moisture Analyzer is capable of measuring the moisture content of virtually any bulk material, such as wood-based samples (whole-tree chips, forest residue chips, peat), annual fibers (straw, grains, willow), minerals, foodstuffs and sludge. Measurements can be performed in field conditions, and take less than 2 min, compared to the 16–24 h needed for laboratory oven-drying methods, says the company. The measuring accuracy is ±1% within the range of 10 to 90%. The unit handles large sample volumes of up to 0.8 L, which means the same sample mass can be measured according to European standards. — Metso Automation, Helsinki, Finland
