These remote I/O systems are now more compact

| By Chemical Engineering

LB/FB Remote I/O Systems are used to connect intrinsically safe Namur switching signals and solenoid valve outputs as well as temperature inputs, or the supply of two- or four-wire transmitters, proportional valves and positioners. LB Remote I/O is installed in the safe area or Zone 2 Div. 1, while the encapsulated FB Remote I/O can be installed in Zone 1. Both employ the same electronic boards in their plug-in modules. These have now been modernized to comply with the latest ATEX guidelines and standards, while remaining compatible with existing devices. Standard buses, such as Profibus, Modbus or industrial Ethernet are available for connecting to master systems. The devices feature new, compact redundant backplanes to save space and reduce costs. Extended intrinsic safety parameters facilitate new interconnections with even more field devices. — Pepperl+Fuchs GmbH, Mannheim, Germany
