Sibur expands production capacity for butyl rubber

| By Mary Page Bailey

Tolyattikauchuk, a subsidiary of Sibur (Moscow; www.sibur.com), has commissioned a third butyl rubber separation line, expanding its production capacity from 48,000 metric tons per year (m.t./yr) to 53,000 m.t./yr. The new line is part of an investment project to upgrade the butyl rubber production facility, increasing its design capacity, improving equipment reliability and reducing environmental impact.

The automated butyl rubber production line developed by Welding (Switzerland) includes extruders, dryers, molding machines, a conveyor belt and other equipment and is distinguished by highly mechanized production processes. The new line will adopt Tolyattikauchuk’s existing butyl rubber production technology with its solution polymerization method, which consistently achieves a high product quality.
