Using ozone to combat micropollutants

Ozone breaks down trace substances through oxidation or converts them into smaller molecules, which are easier for micro-organisms to break down in a post-treatment stage or can be removed by means of absorption. This combination of processes delivers an improved overall cleaning result and generally removes more than 80% of trace elements from wastewater. At the same time, operating costs are lower than those of comparable technologies. This company’s new O3 system, Dulczon OZLa, can be fitted with up to 16 O3 -generator modules. The modules can be activated and deactivated as required. The amount of O3 produced can therefore be adapted to fluctuations, for example in a clarification plant where varying volumes of waste water are treated.
