At the Chem Show’s Equipment & Technology Showcase, this company rolled out the newest iteration of its onsite hydrogen-generation solutions — PHG 830 — a larger-capacity version aimed specifically at the chemical process industries (CPI). Tim Lebrecht, industry manager for Chemicals, Refinery, Water and Cryogenics (photo) announced the new product, listing among its key benefits higher efficiency (said to be 20% higher than similar hydrogen-generation systems) and a much shorter installation and startup time. According to Lebrecht, starting up a PHG 830 system requires 1–3 days typically, compared with 1–4 weeks for other onsite hydrogen generators. Lebrecht also listed lower power consumption and a less-expensive catalyst among the other benefits of PHG 830 systems.
The PHG830 hydrogen generator (photo) is a scalable system that combines proprietary reformer technology with hydrogen pressure-swing-adsorption capabilities. This highly efficient system uses less natural gas and other utilities, saving customers energy and associated costs, according to the manufacturer. The PHG830 system has a modular, packaged-plant design that allows for easy field installation and fast startup, as well as full local and remote control capability.
