Sartorius extends portfolio for process analytics

| By Gerald Ondrey

Sartorius AG (Göttingen, Germany; www.sartorius.com) has signed a cooperation agreement with NIR-Online GmbH (Walldorf, Germany; www.nir-online.de), which specializes in near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy systems for quality assurance and process optimization. Under this agreement, Sartorius secures marketing, distribution and service rights to NIR-Online’s NIR spectroscopy systems to serve the needs of customers from the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Unlike conventional NIR systems, NIR-Online GmbH spectroscopy systems are combined with imaging equipment and specially designed for online use. They are utilized in the food and pharmaceutical industries all along the entire process chain and also in the laboratory for measurement of various chemical and physical product properties. The systems continuously record measurement data throughout the entire manufacturing process and, thanks to their auto-calibration feature, deliver reliable measurement results. As a result, they ensure completely documented quality control in real time, enabling direct control, adjustment and optimization of production processes.

For Sartorius, this cooperation agreement represents a significant step in the expansion of its product portfolio in its Process Analytics business unit. In order for manufacturers to respond efficiently and timely to process fluctuations, analysis is increasingly shifting away from the laboratory into the process environment. With innovative NIR systems, we are offering our customers in the food and pharmaceutical industries optimal solutions for quality assurance and maximum cost-efficiency,” explaines Mario Becker, vice president of Process Analytics at Sartorius.
