Remove magnetic contaminants from ground solids

| By Chemical Engineering

The Xtreme Rare-Earth Rota-Grate features a unique rotating design that magnetically removes ferrous contaminants from many finely ground cohesive materials, such as gypsum, barium carbonate, lime, confectionary sugar, flour and an array of fibrous materials. The iron contaminants tend to stick, clog and bridge when passed through traditional grate magnets, the company says. The Rota-Grate reel incorporates Xtreme rare-earth metal tube circuits, which are at least 12% stronger than all existing magnets, the company adds. The dual motion of the product rotates powerful magnetic tubes through the solid material, which attracts and holds unwanted iron, while the rotary action prevents material from packing and plugging the processing line. The product’s magnetic elements are encased and fastened to stainless-steel end-plates. The units are available in 24 sizes, including multiple lengths and widths. — Eriez, Erie, Pa.
