Pump users recognition program introduced by ITT Goulds Pumps

| By Scott Jenkins

ITT Goulds Pumps (Seneca Falls, N.Y.; www.gouldspumps.com) today announced that nominations are open for a new recognition program to honor individuals who do an exceptional job of specifying, operating and maintaining industrial pumps. The Pulse of Industry Honor Roll is accepting nominations at www.PumpAppreciationDay.com.

Anyone in an industrial organization that uses pumps may nominate an individual to the honor roll by simply filling out an online form with the nominee’s name, title, employer and contact information. The nominator also has the option of supplying a photo and a short story about the nominee. Criteria for being honored include:

  • Improving pump efficiency
  • Providing outstanding maintenance
  • Solving engineering or manufacturing challenges
  • Exceeding expectations and providing extra effort to keep pumps running
  • Exemplifying high-quality customer service

If the nominee is selected, officials at ITT Goulds Pumps will add the name to the Honor Roll on www.PumpAppreciationDay.com. Honorees also will receive notification by email and receive a special recognition on April 10, the inaugural observance of Pump Appreciation Day, which will be an annual event.

"Industrial pumps are the heart of industry, and behind every working pump are talented people who specify, operate and maintain them," said Robert J. Pagano Jr., president of the ITT Industrial Process business, which includes ITT Goulds Pumps. "It’s our goal to recognize as many of those unsung heroes as we can, so we encourage people to nominate their co-workers and colleagues who fit the criteria. We’ll recognize honorees as part of Pump Appreciation Day on April 10."

Pump Appreciation Day is a worldwide effort to celebrate pumps as the heart of industry. Other Pump Appreciation Day initiatives include:

  • Heart of Industry Awards – This new award program will recognize industrial operations for excellence in using pump technology to improve processes, satisfy customers and enhance our modern way of life. Honors will go to companies or plants nominated by ITT Goulds Pumps sales offices and distributors, with a limit of one award-winner per office.
  • Consumer education – High-energy videos and consumer-friendly fact sheets will help non-experts understand the indispensable role that pumps play in making the things we use in everyday life.
  • Local events – ITT Goulds Pumps and its distributors will hold education and recognition events for customers and employees at locations worldwide.
  • Support for CPR education – ITT Goulds Pumps will provide funds and support training events for the international Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Program, supported by the American Heart Association and its global partners. The program teaches first aid, including the recommended method for hands-only CPR. ITT Goulds Pumps already has launched the World of Pumps Quiz (www.worldofpumpsquiz.com), which challenges its customers to answer industry-related questions and pledges donations to the ECC Program for every correct answer.
