Prayon S.A. (Engis, Belgium; www.prayon.com), world leader in phosphate chemistry, will build a manufacturing plant for food-grade sodium hexametaphosphate (SHMP) that will double its production capacity and strengthen its position in the food sector.
After preliminary studies, the decision was made to build the plant on the group’s U.S. site in Augusta, Georgia, supplementing the current SHMP production unit in Roches de Condrieu, France.
The final phase of engineering studies are under way. Projected capacity of the new SHMP unit is 10,000 metric tons per year (m.t./yr). The project is part of Prayon’s growth strategy in the food sector and will support the strategic development in emerging markets, such as Latin America and Asia.
