Prayon acquires calcium-phosphate manufacturer in the U.S.

| By Mary Bailey

Prayon S.A. (Engis, Belgium) has acquired the U.S.-based company Natural Enrichment Industries (NEI), a producer of calcium phosphate salts (TCP).  This strategic move marks a significant milestone in the Group expansion in the US and further solidifies its global position on the high value-added calcium phosphate salts market. Earlier this year, Prayon acquired Arkema’s phosphoric acid business.

The NEI production sites located in Southern Illinois (Herrin and Sesser) complement the existing Prayon production plant of phosphate salts based in Augusta, Georgia and expand the Group’s offering of solutions for food and technical applications. Situated in the heart of the Midwest, the new facilities are ideally positioned to further serve customers across the US, Canada and beyond. “We are looking forward to working together to leverage the synergies between our sites”, comments Laurent Beckers, site director of Prayon in Augusta.

For Steve Frattini, Mayor of Herrin, “The investment of a key economic actor such as Prayon in Herrin and Sesser will reinforce the local anchorage of the phosphorus industry”.

“We are delighted to welcome NEI’s team to the Prayon Group and to envision together the prospects for growth. By joining forces, we are poised to broaden our reach on the high-added value niche market of calcium phosphate salts, create new business opportunities through our Prayon network and deliver reliable solutions to our customers.” concludes Geoffrey Close, CEO of Prayon.

This acquisition aligns well with Prayon strategic vision to focus on its core business and reinforce its global competitiveness.
