Porvair Filtration Group Ltd. (Fareham, U.K.; www.porvairfiltration.com) has doubled the size of its manufacturing and office space in Caribou and improved its existing building to provide a showcase facility. The expansion will increase manufacturing capacity and add new capabilities in the manufacture of products for customers that demand high cleanliness.
Porvair designs and manufactures high quality, cost-effective filters for all stages of the purification or separation process, as well as OEM products for the analytical process instrument markets. The company — recently honored in the U.K. with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade — specializes in a wide range of porous sintered metal products that utilize advanced technology in powder metallurgy, providing optimum solutions for a wide variety of applications.
The Caribou expansion will support Porvair in developing its innovative product line, and comes nearly two years after it acquired the site and business of Chand Eisenmann Metallurgical (CEM). CEM has been merged with Porvair’s operations in Ashland, Virginia, and is integrated with the group’s strategy to grow its U.S. division into a major filtration organization.
Administration, customer service, and sales for the two companies are now integrated at Porvair’s headquarters in Va., and Caribou remains a dedicated manufacturing site.
The Caribou site now includes a modern, two-story building which is integrated with the existing structure through a connector building. The new building contains manufacturing space — used for assembly, passivation, cleaning, packaging, final inspection, storage, and shipping — as well as offices, meeting and conference rooms and reception.
As part of a sustainability drive, energy efficient lighting and insulation has been installed. These improvements provide a high quality workspace for employees, and reduce energy consumption by driving down heating and lighting costs.
Porvair Filtration Group, which has supplied the aerospace, nuclear, energy, process and bioscience industries with performance-driven filtration equipment for almost 30 years, manufactures in both the U.S. and U.K., and has an extensive network of sales offices and distribution channels throughout the world.
