Petronas selects LyondellBasell polyethylene technology for Malaysia project

LyondellBasell (Rotterdam, the Netherlands; www.lyondellbasell.com) announced that PRPC Polymers Sdn Bhd (PRPC Polymers), a wholly owned subsidiary of Petronas Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG), has selected the LyondellBasell Hostalen “Advanced Cascade Process” (Hostalen ACP) technology.  The polyethylene process technology will be used for a 400 KTA high density polyethylene (HDPE) unit to be constructed in their Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) complex in Pengerang, Johor, Malaysia.

Datuk Nur Iskandar A. Samad, Project Director (Petrochemical) for project RAPID at PRPC Polymers stated, “We selected the Hostalen ACP process technology for its exceptional ability to produce high-performance film and pipe products that allows us to meet the growing demand for specialty petrochemical products in the region”.

Hostalen ACP process technology manufactures high-performance, multimodal HDPE resins with an industry-leading stiffness/toughness balance, impact resistance, high stress cracking resistance and processing advantages used in film, blow molding and pipe applications.
