Novozymes receives federal tax credit for enzyme facility

| By Scott Jenkins

Novozymes A/S (Bagsvaerd, Denmark; www.novozymes.com) has been awarded an Advanced Energy Manufacturing Tax Credit worth US$28.4 million from the U.S. federal government to further construction of a new enzyme manufacturing facility in Blair, Neb.

The tax credit becomes available in 2012/2013 and will be received over the span of a few years in the form of reduced tax payments required from the company.

The facility, which broke ground in March 2009, will produce enzymes for the production of advanced biofuels. Its blending facility became operational in November 2009, and the company says it is currently shipping enzymes to customers. Novozymes expects the facility to be fully operational in mid-2012.
