Nippon Shokubai opens expanded facilities for acrylic acid and PMI

Nippon Shokubai  Co. (Osaka, Japan; www.shokubai.co.jp) held an opening ceremony for various new facilities at its Himeji Plant site, including new production plants for acrylic acid and n-phenylmaleimide (PMI), as well as a new liquid incinerator. The new acrylic acid plant has a capacity of 80,000 metric tons per year (m.t./yr), bringing the total acrylic acid capacity at the site to 540,000 m.t./yr. The expansion also adds an additional 10,000 m.t./yr of PMI capacity, bringing the site’s total PMI production to 18,000 m.t./yr.
