The new Profinet Gateways for the LB and FB Remote I/O systems (photo) enable the integration of Ethernet-based process control while providing access to complete diagnostic data. They support communication via HART on the instrument lines, connecting any data from the instrument with seamless integration of process data into any engineering or asset-management system. The new gateways feature S2 system redundancy for plants requiring high availability, connecting the remote I/O station to redundant controllers. This means that process control remains in operation even in the rare event of a controller failure or stoppage. In addition, users can deploy gateways in ring redundancy. This provides protection from unwanted disconnects or faults in the installation. — Pepperl+Fuchs SE, Mannheim, Germany
