New LNG Plant Orders Training System from Yokogawa

| By Scott Jenkins

Skangass AS (Tananger, Norway) has ordered an operator training system (OTS) for its liquified natural gas plant from Yokogawa Norway (Tokyo, Japan). Yokogawa had already supplied the 300,000 ton/yr plant with its safety and automation system (SAS) and plant instrumentation. The Yokogawa operator training system consists of an OmegaLand simulation engine and a safety and automation system (SAS) that mirrors the actual plant.  The model will mimic the LNG process and allow for simulated plant upsets and equipment malfunctions. Installation of the OTS will be completed in November 2009 and the plant is expected to begin supplying customers in 2010.
