Momentive Technologies acquires alumina and silica businesses in South Korea

Advanced materials provider Momentive Technologies (Strongsville, Ohio) has completed the acquisition of Sibelco’s spherical alumina and spherical silica businesses located in South Korea.

The acquisition broadens Momentive Technologies’ ceramics powder product portfolio and strengthens its innovative work on thermal fillers used in thermal interface materials (TIMs). TIMs are relied on to help manage heat, sustain high performance, and contribute to the longevity of valuable power electronic and battery systems for:

  • Electric vehicles (EV)
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Renewable energy
  • Consumer electronics
  • Telecommunications

In adding new spherical powders to its product mix, the company anticipates growth opportunities within the EV market and other markets facing significant power electronics performance challenges.
