Momentive completes Brazilian production facility for epoxy resins and curing agents

Momentive Specialty Chemicals Inc. (Columbus, Ohio; www.momentive.com) has announced that it has completed construction of its epoxy resin and curing agent production facility in Itatiba, Brazil. The company will hold an opening ceremony for customers on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014. The development will produce epoxy resins and curing agents for large-diameter wind-turbine blades. The addition is being opened to better serve the growing wind energy market in South America.
 
“This strategic expansion further strengthens our leading market position in the global wind energy market,” said Jody Bevilaqua, executive vice president and president of the Epoxy, Phenolic and Coating Resins Division. “We are excited to create this growth platform to leverage our EPIKOTE/ EPIKURE Epoxy Systems as our proven technology enables the production of wind turbine blades that can exceed 60 meters in length.”
