Mitsubishi Chemical to consolidate subsidiaries in the U.S., U.K. and Germany

Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. (MCC; Tokyo) announced that it will integrate subsidiaries at the national level in three countries: the US, UK, and Germany. By sharing and integrating expertise and resources, this integration will enhance cooperation and further strengthen overall business capabilities in each of these three countries. MCC will also strive to reinforce speedy customer responsiveness firmly based in these countries and provide solutions to social issues particular to each country.

Nine subsidiaries in the US will be integrated on April 1, 2021. The new integrated company will be called Mitsubishi Chemical America, Inc, and will be located in Charlotte, N.C. With planned capital of around $850 million, the new company will focus its business on:

  • Regional management in the Americas
  • Import and sales of MCC Group’s products
  • Manufacturing and sales of industrial chemicals and materials, petrochemicals, and plastics
  • Precision cleaning of semiconductor equipment parts

In the U.K., five subsidiaries will be integrated by April 1, 2021. The new integrated company will be called Mitsubishi Chemical UK Limited, and will be located in Billingham, Cleveland, U.K. The new company will encompass the manufacturing and sales of MMA and other methacrylates, ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH), specialty polymers and resins, and electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries.

In Germany, five subsidiaries will be integrated by April 1, 2021, under the new integrated company Mitsubishi Chemical Europe GmbH, located in Duesseldorf. The new company will focus its business on the manufacturing and sales of carbon fiber and composite materials, performance polymers and engineering plastics.
