Maire Tecnimont books EPC contract for large-scale fertilizer complex in Indiana

Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. (Milan, Italy; www.mairetecnimont.com) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Fatima Group Principals (FGP) and Midwest Fertilizer Corporation (MFC), which will form the basis for negotiating and finalizing agreements towards a strategic collaboration for work on a U.S.-based large-scale, greenfield fertilizer complex, to be located in Mount Vernon, Ind. The value of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) activities to be executed by Maire Tecnimont or its subsidiaries is approximately $1.6 billion.

The MFC Project by MET shall consist of an ammonia plant with a capacity of 2,200 metric tons (m.t.) per day based on KBR technology, a urea synthesis plant with a capacity of 2,200 m.t./d, a urea granulation plant with a capacity of 1,200 m.t./d, a urea ammonium nitrate plant with a capacity of 4,300 m.t./d, a diesel-exhaust fuel plant with a capacity of 900 m.t./d, based on Stamicarbon’s technology, and a nitric acid plant with a capacity of 1,530 m.t./d, based on Borealis/GPN technology, as well as all associated offsites and utilities. MET intends to build partnerships with important U.S. construction players for the execution of the works. The project’s completion is expected in Q4 2017.
