Kuraray Co. (Tokyo, Japan; www.kuraray.co.jp/en) has decided to expand its production facilities in the U.S. at its wholly owned subsidiary MonoSol, LLC, headquartered in Merrillville, Ind. Kuraray will establish a new factory, to be located in Portage, Ind., including new buildings and production equipment, in order to meet increasing demand, particularly in North America and Europe, for PVA film for various industrial applications. The first phase of construction has an investment of around $25 million, with operations targeted for startup in January 2016. Kuraray acquired MonoSol, LLC in June 2012.
