| By Mary Bailey

Kuraray Co. (Tokyo, Japan; www.kuraray.co.jp/en), along with Kureha Corp., Irochu Corp. and the Innovations Network Corp. of Japan, have agreed to dissolve Kureha Battery Materials Japan Co. (KBMJ), the joint venture for lithium-ion-battery materials.

In addition, KBMJ’s operations related to Biocarobotron, a plant-based hard carbon-anode material, will be taken over by Kuraray on Jan. 1 2016.

KBMJ will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Kureha, to which it will transfer its operations related to the productions and sale of lithium-ion-battery (LiB) hard-carbon anode materials branded under the name Carbotron.
