Kemira Oyj (Helsinki, Finland; www.kemira.com) has been selected as a supplier of sodium chlorate to Klabin’s new 1.5 million metric ton pulp mill in Paraná, Brazil. Sodium chlorate is used as a component in the bleaching process, an important process step in the manufacturing of bleached pulp.
Kemira will build, own and operate a sodium chlorate plant, which is scheduled to begin production during the first half of 2016. The plant will employ around 30 people.
Klabin was founded in 1899 and operates 16 mills (15 in Brazil and one in Argentina), targeting markets such as packaging paper and board, corrugated packaging, and industrial bags producers. The new pulp mill in Brazil is the largest investment in Klabin’s history and will double the company’s production capacities.
