Kaneka to expand production capacity of chlorinated polyvinyl chloride

| By Mary Page Bailey

Kaneka Corporation (Osaka, Japan; www.kaneka.com) is increasing its production capacity of chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) resin at wholly owned subsidiary Kaneka North America LLC, located in Texas, to 50,000 metric tons per year (m.t./yr), an increase of approximately 20,000 m.t./yr. With operations expected to launch in early 2015, Kaneka’s investment is expected to be nearly ¥5 billion. CPVC is a polyvinyl chloride resin whose heat resistant properties make it desirable for use in residential and commercial hot water distribution pipes as well as industrial pipes.
