G2X Energy, Inc. (Houston; www.g2xenergy.com) announced that they have entered into license and engineering contracts with Johnson Matthey (London, U.K.; www.matthey.com) for their previously announced world-scale methanol production facility located in Lake Charles, La. Johnson Matthey will supply the technology license, basic engineering, catalyst and technical services for the project. Once complete, the G2X facility, known as Big Lake Fuels Methanol Plant, will produce 1.4 million metric tons per year (m.t./yr) of commercial-grade methanol.
In conjunction, G2X has also entered into an engineering services contract with Toyo Engineering Corp. (Toyo; Chiba, www.toyo-eng.co.jp) for the detailed engineering needs on the Lake Charles methanol site. Toyo will be providing basic engineering for offsite and utility facilities and detailed engineering of the complete methanol facility. Construction on the Big Lake Fuels Plant will take approximately 3 years to complete and will add 2,500 direct and indirect jobs to the Lake Charles area during the construction period.
