JGC Corp. (Yokohama, Japan; www.jgc.com) has been awarded a contract for the construction of a mega-solar power generation project planned by Pacifico Energy K.K. in Mimasaka City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan.
The lump sum turnkey contract calls for JGC to carry out the engineering, procurement and construction work (EPC) for a mega-solar power generation plant with delivery in autumn of 2019. Using the 400-hectare site of a former golf course, the plant is planned to have an output of 257.74 MW (equivalent to the annual power consumption of about 81,000 households), making it among the largest such facilities in Japan.
JGC has not only undertaken the EPC work for a number of solar power plants but has also operated two such facilities, providing the company with extensive experience and know-how in this field. This background, combined with flexible responsiveness to clients’ needs, is seen as having been the major factor in the awarding of the contract to JGC.
