High-pressure CO2 without an external cooling bath

| By Chemical Engineering

The SFT-10 Liquid Carbon Dioxide pump features advanced thermoelectric technology that allows the generation of high pressure without the need for an external cooling bath. The SFT-10 can pressurize carbon dioxide up to 10,000 psi at flowrates from 0.01 to 24 mL/min, characteristics that make the pump ideal for supercritical fluid extraction, supercritical fluid reaction chemistry and chromatography, the company says. The SFT-10 uses dual-sapphire-pump technology, and its chiller has cooling capability that maintains a sufficiently low temperature at the pump head to keep the CO2 in a liquid state. The pump is available as a standalone unit, or as part of this company’s supercritical fluid extractor systems. — Supercritical Fluid Technologies Inc., Newark, Del.
