Grupa Azoty SA (Tarnów, Poland; www.grupaazoty.com) has announced that a subsidiary operating within its Plastics Business Segment has launched a new manufacturing/compounding plant for modified plastics with a production capacity of 50,000 tons per year. The business and technological partner of the project is the German company Akro Plastic GmbH. The plant was established in just 1.5 years based on the latest technology and equipment, and the investment budget was PLN 100 million (around $26 million).
By modifying the polyamide produced in Tarnów and other materials at the plant, specialized modified materials will be produced for use in the automotive, machinery, construction, electronics and household goods industries, among many others.
The Plastics Business Segment currently has production facilities in three locations:
- Puławy producing Caprolactam
- German Guben – polyamide production
- Tarnów – production of Caprolactam, Polyamide and Modified Plastics
The New Modified Plastics Plant will be able to produce even more advanced materials. The offering of plastics is constantly developing thanks to close cooperation with clients, and the company’s R&D team ,as well as cooperation with leading Polish institutions and scientific and research teams.
Grupa Azoty has been placing great emphasis on quality, innovation and product development for years, having research and development laboratories taking care of both the current product portfolio and looking for new products and development directions for the entire Group, including in the Research and Development Center in Tarnów, which was launched last year.
