On a three-month-moving-average basis, the Global CPRI rose 0.3% in April, indicating a good start to the second quarter, the ACC report said, adding that production gains were observed in most regions except Latin America. The index is up 4.8% from this time last year.
Meanwhile, the U.S. CPRI was 0.6% higher in April, with all seven geographic regions seeing growth, the ACC report said. The April gain follows a 0.2% increase during the previous month. Compared to April of last year, total chemical production in all regions was ahead by 2.0%. With a gain of 0.8% in April, the Southeast region of the U.S. had the largest increase, following by the Ohio Valley Region at 0.7% and the Gulf Coast at 0.6%.
Other economic data discussed in the latest ACC report included the results from a survey of leading economic forecasters conducted by ACC. Regarding the expectations for 2015, the ACC report said the survey indicated a generally positive outlook for 2015.
