These induction motors have improved heat dissipation
The family of IMfinity induction motors has been expanded with the Liquid Cooled (LC) series (photo). The latest-generation frame housing, with cast iron or steel flanges, allows for excellent heat dissipation. Its advanced cooling system maintains thermal efficiency, enabling the motor to be used together with a variable-speed drive for heavy-duty applications that require constant torque, says the company. Its noise level is decreased by an average 10–20 dB compared to air-cooled motors due to the lack of a fan. Its reduced power-to-weight ratio (a reflection of increased power in the same motor frame size) and its compactness (saving up to 25% volume compared to air-cooled motors) allow for easier and less costly installation within existing machine systems. — Emerson Industrial Automation, St. Louis, Mo.
