ATEX-certified drum pump is designed for flammables

Michael Smith Engineers

The EF Series ATEX sealless drum pumps (photo) are a motor-driven option for transferring liquids from small drums, buckets and intermediate bulk containers (IBCs). A new ATEX-certified option has been added to the product line, for use with flammables or in hazardous areas. It is certified for the container-to-container transfer of flammable or combustible liquids, such as acetone, alcohol, diesel fuel, gasoline, kerosene, toluene, xylene and mineral spirits, as well as oils, detergents and other similar liquids, at flowrates of up to 64 L/min, at discharge pressures to 6.1 m. This pump is available in three materials (stainless steel, polyvinylidene fluoride and polypropylene), and with five different tube lengths from 40 to 135 cm. A wide choice of motor options can be interchanged with any tube selected, says the company. Compared to hand-operated drum pumps, this device enables more-precise amounts of liquid to be transferred to smaller containers with less risk of spillage. — Michael Smith Engineers Ltd., Surrey, U.K.
