Coveralls for chemical and fire protection

This company’s recently launched Tychem® 6000 SFR is a lightweight, hooded garment (photo) designed to help protect people working in challenging environments against multiple chemical and flash-fire hazards. Tychem garments may be suitable for applications and industries that require multi-hazard protection. Tychem 6000 SFR is designed to provide at least 30 minutes of protection from more than 250 chemical hazards, such as toxic industrial chemicals, chemical warfare agents and flammable organic solvents. The coverall also helps ensure secondary flame resistance when worn over primary flame-resistant (FR) garments like those made with this company’s Nomex®. In a flash-fire, the Tychem 6000 SFR garment will not cause additional burn-related injury if such appropriate primary FR personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn beneath. The garment design features a respirator-fit hood with covered elastic face opening, taped seams and double-storm flap closure with double-sided adhesive tape, which create reliable seals that help prevent potential chemical ingress. The chin flap with double-sided adhesive tape provides enhanced protection in the neck area and a good fit with a respirator. In addition, its nylon zipper with a large metal pull supports an easier donning and doffing process. — DuPont, Wilmington, Del.
