The Kenics UltraTab static mixer (photo) is designed for applications that have turbulent flow but require a high degree of mixing in a compact space. This static mixer is able to complete blending over a short distance, and ensure low pressure drop through the mixing element. It has an integral wall injector upstream of the mixing element, which forces any flow-stream additives through the high-energy dissipation region created by the mixing element. Low pressure drop through the static mixer reduces pump demand and saves energy. Its compact design and short mixing length helps to minimize pipe lengths, thereby improving the energy of the plant layout, says the company. The UltraTab static mixer is available in size ranges from 2 to 60 in., and it uses NPT or flanged connections. It is available in a broad range of materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, coated carbon/Type 316 stainless steel, fiberglass-reinforced plastic and high-alloy metals. — Chemineer, Dayton, Ohio
