Emissions monitoring study of BP refinery completed by Mustang

| By Scott Jenkins

Mustang Engineering L.P. (Houston, Tex.; www.mustangeng.com) has completed a front-end engineering study of an emissions monitoring project at a 225,000 bbl/d BP (London, U.K.; www.bp.com) refinery.

In the study, Mustang evaluated the automation of the Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) at BP’s Cherry Point, Wash. refinery to assess its ability to meet environmental requirements.

Mustang looked at the value of various tools applied across the refinery to increase the reliability of the CEMS. The tools included programmable logic controllers, data acquisition and retention systems and environmental data management systems.

Recommendations focused on data flow from field instrumentation to the corporate enterprise business applications.
