Eliminate downtime with a skid-mounted pair of PHEs

| By Chemical Engineering

The GEASkid version of the NT Series is a plate heat exchanger (PHE) module with permanent standby function, comprising two completely independent PHEs designed to eliminate machine downtimes caused by maintenance. The GEASkid was developed to meet the safety requirements in power stations, and is especially suited to cooling lubricating oil. The module is fitted with two identical high-performance, gasketed PHEs that are installed in a space saving way on a single frame. The space requirements are considerably reduced compared to shell-and-tube heat exchangers, says the manufacturer. Only a single unit is required to provide reliable turbine cooling; if one PHE fails or requires servicing, operators can immediately switch over to the stand-by PHE without having to interrupt the cooling cycle — GEA PHE Systems, GEA Ecoflex GmbH, Sarstedt, Germany
