The September 2016 preliminary value for the CE Plant Cost Index (CEPCI; the most recent available) was slightly lower than the previous month’s value, continuing a modest decline that began in July. Decreases in the Equipment and Buildings subindices offset smaller increases in the Construction Labor and Engineering & Supervision subindices. The preliminary September 2016 CEPCI value stands at 1.4% lower than the corresponding value from September of last year. Meanwhile, the latest Current Business Indicators (CBI) for October 2016 showed a slight increase in the CPI Output Index, as well as a gain in the September CPI Value of Output compared to August.
