Detect blocked feed chutes with acoustic wave technology

| By Chemical Engineering

The Gladiator Acoustic Switch series is designed for continuous operation in applications in which detecting blocked feed chutes is important. The device has two acoustic wave transducers that pulse and receive each other’s acoustic echoes. Using this company’s specially developed software, the transducers detect the presence or absence of a change in the return signal. When the path between the transducers is blocked, the units trigger a communications relay for indication or control purposes. The transducers can work together or independently to detect pulse interference. The transducers are self-cleaning, and do not require contact with the product. The power of each pressure wave (pulse) blows moisture and buildup off the face of the diaphragm. — Hawk Measurement America, Middleton, Mass.
